UK – Rank Group bingos deliver food to the most vulnerable
The world is standing together to show solidarity in the face of adversity
Rank Group, one of the biggest names in British entertainment with more than 80 years history in the gaming industry, has posted an emotional message on Linkedin letting us know about the different actions they have been taking in the UK in the fight against COVID-19.
It’s the biggest fight against a health pandemic that we’ve seen, and for many it’ll be one of the biggest challenges they will face. The world is standing together to show solidarity in the face of adversity and as the weeks go by, we are all hearing about the amazing work people are doing to help each other.
At #Rank, we’ve seen and heard heart-warming stories of support amongst our colleagues, as well as our communities. As part of the #Swansea together project, Mecca Bingo have been providing the much need facilities to enable a band of volunteers to cook and prepare meals to distribute to isolated and vulnerable people in the local area.
Along with a #Mecca crew, volunteers from the Where’s Doris and Matthews House charities have worked together to run an efficient production line (socially distanced of course) to prepare and pack vital dinners provided by one of our suppliers, Bidfood. With Swansea Council helping to pick up and ship the meals to those in need, this tremendously positive initiative provided over 660 meals in their first week!
The feedback has been overwhelming and the volunteers are now continuing to provide this valuable service every Tuesday to Friday going forward. A massive shout out, and huge thanks, to everyone involved. Together we are stronger.
