No July reopening for UK casinos
Although safe distancing and hygiene procedures could easily be applied by casinos

The COVID-19 topsy-turvy policies that have hurt the country with haphazard decisions is now hurting the entertainment industry as casinos and nightclubs remain shut while pubs and restaurants have been allowed to reopen to the public.
Of course, with an executive playing to the grandstand at every opportunity it has, along with irresponsible financial packages that are open to abuse, inconceivably turned its face against the best and most regulated industry in the land, and without sensible excuse deemed not responsible enough to apply distancing and hygiene procedures.
It’s all half-truths or downright lies with the Tory government when it comes to justifying atrocious policies that leave more pandemic deaths in its wake, and this is evident when you hear the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Secretary Oliver Dowden announce the government’s latest coronavirus easing orders as, “a significant lifting of lockdown restrictions for arts, entertainment and sport.”
From Saturday 11 July, England’s outdoor pools, sports pitches and open-air performance venues, including opera, theatre and music halls, were allowed to reopen, leaving out nightclubs and casinos. Also, the new reopening of business by the government will be followed by England’s beauty salons, tattoo parlours and tanning rooms being allowed to reopen beginning today Monday 13 July, while gyms and indoor swimming pools will be granted their reopening orders on Saturday 25 July.
In all the entertainment choices described above, there is not one that is able to comply with safe distancing and sanitary procedures as competently as casinos and gambling venues. For Dowden, neither casinos nor nightclubs count as entertainment.
Now, we do not know much about nightclubs, but as far as casinos are concerned, there is no industry that is better prepared to comply with health procedures, no matter how intricate, to protect clients and personnel at all times.
