INDIA – Goa ports department seeks casino ship site
Aguada Bay is likely site for India’s floating casinos to land
Goa Ports Department has been tasked with finding an alternative location for the state’s six floating casinos away from their current position in the Mandovi River, and the most likely destination is in Aguada Bay, with at least one operator expressing willingness to move.
“The captain of ports has to identify a location to which the casinos can be shifted: the location should provide safe access for tourists who travel to the casinos in feeder boats,” Ports Minister Michael Lobo was cited as saying by the Times of India.

He also added the ships would be granted another extension to stay on the Mandovi, after the current October deadline expires. Longer term, Goa is expected to bring its floating casinos onshore to a special tourism and entertainment zone. The policy was outlined by former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, but there has been little further progress, so far.
