Four Aces in the Hand at GOL EXPO PERU
San Román, Traverso, Fonseca y Gamarra ready to take on the system
Not only has the Peruvian government passed a Legislative Decree that has already been qualified by experts in the Peruvian gaming industry as anti-Constitutional but, not to be left behind, a congressman presents a bill for sports betting, leaving aside online or internet gaming but touching the matter by reference as if it were a secondary issue and perhaps hoping it would pass under the radar.
Not to delve further into these issues, which have put the Peruvian gaming sector in turmoil – two operators’ guilds are protesting severely against the projected ‘Selective Consumption Tax’ from 2019 – the programming of the Academic Agenda of GOL EXPO PERU has the good fortune of having four Aces from the gaming sector.
Manuel San Román Benavente, Director General at Dirección de Juegos de Casino y Máquinas Tragamonedas, the gaming regulator in Peru, is Keynote Speaker at the first sports betting and online gaming event in the country, GOL EXPO PERU, on Tuesday 25thSeptember at 9.30am.
While the expectations were already high, they have now reached boiling point in anticipation of the presentation by one of the most respected regulators of the global gaming industry. Without a doubt the red hot topic to be discussed is “The Progress of Internet gaming legislation in Peru,” which could not be more timely.
At 11:30 am, the president of the Asociación Peruana de Entretenimiento y Juegos Azar (APEJA), Constante Traverso, will deliver to those present: “Truths and Lies in Gambling in Peru”. APEJA has already declared its intention to lay charges in the Courts seeking redress against ‘the imposition of the Government to demand that casinos and slots machines at national level pay luxury tax – Impuesto Selectivo al Consumo(ISC)’.
And here comes the scoop of the day, which says that there is a bill that ‘regulates online gaming in an integral manner’, presented by Congress vice president Leyla Chihuan. At 12.30pm, to close the session of the day, Carlos Fonseca will touch on the issue of… “Legislation for Online Gaming,” with much more technical consistency than the bill mentioned above that aims to treat online communications as if they just were a passing fancy, as if a sporty pastime.
On Wednesday, September 26that 9:30 am, Peru’s gaming pioneer Fredy Gamarra will be setting off fireworks with his presentation: “Games of Chance in Peru.” Nobody can talk so authoritatively about casino and slot machine operations in Peru than Fredy. No doubt he will be moving chips into sports betting and online gaming in the near future!
Truly, four aces in the hand, who will discuss the scope of legislation, operations, and other fundamental elements of the Peruvian gambling industry. In addition, among the other speakers are experts and operators of sports betting and online and mobile gaming, to talk and debate on Wednesday 25th, which we will write about in Monday 24th content.
GOL EXPO PERU promises heated debates and presentations during September 25th and 26th at the CC María Angola, in the City of Miraflores in Lima. Although there are limited places, all interested parties are invited to attend this first event dedicated to the new sector of sports betting and internet gaming.
