Dreams brings together regulatory, medical and academic specialists to examine problem gambling, online betting and early intervention
Chile’s contrasting controls for licensed casinos and unregulated forms of gambling will provide the regulatory backdrop for an international responsible gaming meeting taking place today.
Dreams is holding its third Hispanic-American Symposium, “From Pathological Gambling to Responsible Gaming”, at the Monticello Conference Centre. The programme begins at 9am and can also be followed online following prior registration.
Prevention and early detection
The symposium brings together Chilean and international representatives from the academic, medical, regulatory and gambling sectors.
Discussions will cover the prevention and early detection of problem gambling, the monitoring of risky behaviour and the support available to people who may require intervention.
The event will also examine the challenges presented by online betting platforms that operate without the controls applied to Chile’s authorised casinos.
Licensed casinos are regulated under Law No. 19,995 and supervised by the Superintendence of Casinos and Gambling (SCJ). Their obligations include access controls and participation in Chile’s National Voluntary Self-Exclusion System.

International speakers join the programme
Ide will open the symposium, which includes a presentation from the SCJ. Mariela Huenchumilla, Corporate Responsible Gaming Manager at Dreams, will discuss the operator’s experience and the policies it has implemented.
Professor Mark Griffiths will examine responsible gaming tools based on behavioural tracking. Michael Auer will address psychological and biological factors linked to gambling and risk-taking.
Juan Carlos Oyanedel, Miguel Vargas, Stephanie L. Diez and Jody Bechtold will participate remotely.
The symposium forms part of Dreams’ responsible gaming programme, which is intended to provide information, promote safer habits, identify risky conduct and activate support mechanisms when necessary.
Dreams has also received its third consecutive certification from the Global Gambling Guidance Group (G4), which assesses responsible gaming policies and practices.
