SPAIN – Casino Admiral San Roque celebrates 10th anniversary

The Cádiz entertainment complex marked a decade of operations with live music, dining and 10 customer prizes at a packed Admiral Arena

Casino Admiral San Roque has celebrated 10 years of operations in the Campo de Gibraltar with an anniversary event combining live entertainment, dining and customer prize draws.

The Admiral Arena reached capacity for the celebration, which marked a decade since the complex restored casino activity to San Roque following a five-year absence.

Paul Maxwell, known as The Piano Man, led the entertainment with a live show featuring a tribute to Elton John and music associated with Queen, Robbie Williams, Billy Joel and Ray Charles.

Guests could attend the performance independently or choose a dinner-and-show experience with a four-course menu prepared by Privilege Chefs.

Ten prizes for 10 years

The anniversary programme extended into the gaming area, where Casino Admiral organised a draw featuring 10 prizes, one representing each year since its opening.

Customers who had collected qualifying tickets during the associated promotion were eligible to participate.

The event concluded a milestone year for the property, which has developed from a land-based casino into a broader hospitality and entertainment destination serving local residents and visitors to the Campo de Gibraltar.

Casino activity returned in 2016

Casino Admiral San Roque officially celebrated its inauguration on 23 September 2016. Among those attending were three-time Formula 1 world champion Niki Lauda and San Roque Mayor Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix.

The venue had opened to customers several weeks earlier, towards the end of July.

Its arrival restored casino operations to the municipality after the previous establishment closed in May 2010. The licence remained vacant until the Andalusian Government authorised its reactivation in favour of Admiral Casinos, S.A. in April 2015.

The redevelopment involved an initial investment exceeding €5 million and reused the former casino facilities and land belonging to the adjacent campsite. Approximately 100 people worked at the complex when it began operating.

Gaming, hospitality and entertainment

The current complex occupies approximately 4,600 square metres, with a further 10,000 square metres allocated to parking.

Its facilities include the casino, Hotel Admiral Lodge, a pool terrace and Admiral Arena. The multipurpose arena has hosted concerts, dinner shows, corporate and private events, and sporting programmes such as Casino Admiral Fight Night and La Batalla del Estrecho.

The gaming floor offers 123 slot machines and electronic roulette positions, alongside American roulette and blackjack tables. The property also includes a 437-seat electronic bingo room and sports betting.

This wider combination of gaming, accommodation, dining and entertainment has enabled Casino Admiral San Roque to attract both regional customers and tourists visiting southern Spain and the Gibraltar area.

Solar investment supports the complex

The anniversary follows the completion of a new self-consumption solar photovoltaic installation at the property.

The 615 kWp facility uses 1,000 solar modules and is expected to generate approximately 1,058 MWh of renewable electricity annually. Casino Admiral estimates that the project will prevent around 250 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

The installation is designed to supply a significant proportion of the electricity required by the hotel and casino while reducing their reliance on the conventional grid.

Marco Rother, Marketing Director at Casinos Admiral, said ahead of the event:

“It will be a great day to celebrate with our customers, partners and friends. We are very pleased with the atmosphere at our facilities and the positive response we receive from local customers as well as tourists.”

The full Admiral Arena and strong customer participation ultimately reflected that expectation as the San Roque complex completed its first decade.
