Regulated operators recorded US$1.33 billion in gross wagers, with digital channels growing fastest while Type A slots retained a 70% market share
Panama’s regulated gambling operators handled US$1.3288 billion in gross wagers between January and May 2026, representing an increase of 16.2% from US$1.1437 billion during the same period of 2025.
Figures compiled by the Comptroller General of the Republic from Panama’s Gaming Control Board show that online gambling was the fastest-growing segment. Digital wagers reached US$299.6 million, an increase of 57% year-on-year.
The result reflects the growing role of online platforms within Panama’s regulated market, supported by wider adoption of mobile services and increasing competition around platform performance, product catalogues and the user experience.
However, digital gambling has not displaced the country’s established land-based market. Type A slot machines generated US$932.4 million in gross wagers during the five-month period, accounting for more than 70% of the total.
The slot segment grew 7.3% compared with the same period of 2025. Type A machines operate in full casinos, dedicated gaming halls and other authorised locations.
Gaming tables ranked third by wagering volume, recording US$74.3 million and year-on-year growth of 23%. This category includes roulette, blackjack, baccarat and poker offered by authorised casinos.
The official figures differ from the original report’s reference to US$1.60783 billion and 16.5% growth. The published January–May data place total gross wagers at US$1.3288 billion, with annual growth of 16.2%.
Panama’s first-quarter economy expanded by 4.8%, supported by commerce, construction, transport and Panama Canal activity. Against this wider economic backdrop, online gambling is becoming a more visible component of the country’s digital services economy, although land-based slots remain its largest gambling vertical.
