Grupo EGB becomes first iGaming Company recognised in IIA May Brazil campaign

The Brazilian operator was recognised for internal audit awareness work covering governance, risk, controls and training

Grupo Esportes Gaming Brasil has become the first iGaming company recognised in the IIA May Brazil campaign, organised by the Institute of Internal Auditors of Brazil.

The group, which operates the Esportes da Sorte, Onabet and Lottu brands, received the IIA May Brazil 2026 Winning Company seal, together with a trophy and certificate, during a ceremony held on 23 July.

The recognition follows EGB’s internal audit awareness campaign carried out during May, which is International Internal Audit Awareness Month.

The campaign was designed to explain the role of Internal Audit, reduce common misconceptions and show how the function supports governance, risk management, internal controls and strategic decision-making.

EGB said the award places it among around 100 major organisations recognised by IIA Brazil in 2026. The wider group of recognised companies includes large Brazilian names such as Petrobras, Banco Bradesco, Grupo Mateus and Vale, as well as companies in the Caixa ecosystem and other national groups.

The recognition is notable because Brazil’s regulated betting market is still building its compliance culture. Since the introduction of federal regulation, operators have faced stronger expectations around governance, integrity, risk controls, anti-money laundering, responsible gaming and operational transparency.

Carol Luna, Head of Compliance at Esportes Gaming Brasil

“Being the first iGaming company recognised in the IIA May Brazil campaign is a significant milestone for both our group and the wider industry. Regulation has ushered in a new era of professionalism, where growth, innovation and efficiency must go hand in hand with strong governance, integrity and the ability to anticipate risk.”

To qualify for the IIA May Brazil 2026 campaign, organisations had to meet several requirements. These included publishing at least four pieces of original content on official social media channels and carrying out at least two internal or external initiatives, such as webinars, presentations or training sessions.

All actions had to be supported by evidence and submitted to IIA Brazil for evaluation.

Eligible organisations were assessed by representatives of IIA Brazil. The evaluation considered the quality and relevance of the content, creativity, originality, reach, engagement and the diversity of the initiatives delivered.

During May, EGB said it met all campaign requirements. Its activities included educational videos explaining Internal Audit, a series addressing myths and misconceptions, and content showing the development of the company’s new Internal Audit function.

The campaign also included the Audit EGB Webinar, structured as an open discussion and broadcast to employees across the business. The session examined the strategic importance of Internal Audit in the iGaming industry.

EGB also held an in-person training programme for professionals working in the second and third lines of defence. Participants included representatives from Internal Audit, Quality, Compliance and Monitoring.

Carol Luna, Head of Compliance at Esportes Gaming Brasil

“Our goal was to bring Internal Audit closer to our people and demonstrate that the function is not isolated or focused solely on identifying non-compliance. It is a strategic partner that transforms information into meaningful insights, drives continuous improvement and helps the business build more efficient processes and stronger controls.”

The award ceremony followed the 2026 Chief Audit Executives Meeting, which brought together Internal Audit leaders from organisations across Brazil to discuss trends and challenges facing the profession.

EGB’s recognition comes at a useful time for the Brazilian betting sector. The market is moving from early licensing into a more demanding phase of supervision, reporting and control.

That shift gives internal audit a more visible role. Operators need independent review, stronger documentation, tested controls and a clearer view of risk across commercial, financial, operational and technology areas.

The message to the wider market is simple. Compliance is no longer only a licensing requirement. It is becoming part of how regulated operators present themselves to regulators, partners, banks, suppliers and players.

EGB’s campaign also shows how governance work can be made more practical inside the business. Training, internal communication and cross-functional participation help ensure audit is understood as a support function, not just a control checkpoint.

As Brazil’s regulated market matures, companies able to connect growth with governance are likely to have an advantage. EGB’s IIA May Brazil recognition gives the group an early compliance and internal audit reference point within the iGaming sector.
