Casino operations ready to go even further in protecting customers and employees

“The announcements made by the President of the Republic and the clarifications made by the Prime Minister, last week, were encouraging for the cultural and leisure sectors. During this festive period, the rapid reopening of these activities is essential for the well-being of our citizens, but also for the economic activity of several cities in France. It must, of course, be done within the framework of a strict application of a demanding health protocol”, the professional union Casinos de France stated in a press release. The union has worked in this spirit to accompany and make possible this reopening, in accordance with the new government measures.

At the end of the first wave of the Covid-19, casinos were among the first economic businesses to put in place a strict health protocol as of June 2 (wearing masks, plexiglass, frequent disinfection …) whose application has been subject to very rigorous controls by the services of the Ministry of the Interior. French casinos have not reported any outbreaks of contamination in their establishments.

French casino operations are ready to go even further in protecting customers and employees. The introduction of enhanced access control, the limitation of the number of customers with mandatory prior registration allowing for flawless traceability in compliance with the RGPD, the strengthening of the frequency of disinfection, the promotion of digital tools such as «TousAntiCovid» (“AllAntiCovid”) and the recommendation of temperature-taking at the entrance are all elements on which French casinos intend to commit.

Casinos de France add that, “It is essential to allow the reopening of casinos because this activity is one of the crucial engines of the local economic dynamics in which they are located. They represent 15,000 direct jobs, 45,000 indirect jobs, and generate 1.4 billion euros in taxes each year, of which 400 million for local authorities.”

“Finally, it should be noted that recent periods of administrative closures have unfortunately caused an increase in online places or sites with illegal gambling activities without control on addictions, health rules or traceability of funds. This situation is all the more damaging because casinos have been working closely with the Administration for several years and are fully involved in the fight against addictions, the protection of minors and the against money laundering. Reopening our facilities quickly will therefore also be a relevant approach in terms of health and public order,” adds the press release.
