EGBA calls for European Safer Gambling Week 2026 activities

Organisations can register events and initiatives by 19 October for the campaign taking place across Europe from 16 to 22 November

The European Gaming and Betting Association has invited gambling stakeholders and other interested organisations to support the sixth edition of European Safer Gambling Week.

Taking place from 16 to 22 November, the campaign will promote practical safer gambling measures, raise awareness of player protection tools and direct consumers towards support and self-exclusion services available in their countries.

The initiative will also provide a platform for discussing regulatory and research developments and exchanging effective player protection practices across European markets.

Campaign builds on record participation

European Safer Gambling Week recorded its highest participation to date in 2025, attracting 221 partners from 24 countries, an increase of 14% from the previous year.

Safer gambling messages reached 4.1 million social media users, representing annual growth of 32%. The programme also included 23 events involving more than 2,500 attendees and 120 speakers.

For the first time, campaign messages appeared during televised football matches and at retail betting locations, expanding the initiative beyond digital channels.

Pierre Tournier, Interim Secretary General of EGBA

“European Safer Gambling Week is an important moment in the year—a chance for all of us to take stock of where we are on safer gambling and to have open, honest conversations about what more can be done.

“Last year’s events programme and discussions were excellent, and we’d like this year’s to be even better. If you’re thinking about organising something, get in touch early so we can build the strongest possible programme.”

EGBA invites participation across the sector

EGBA is encouraging operators, regulators, trade associations, harm-prevention organisations, technology providers, research institutions, sports clubs and people with lived experience of gambling harm to participate.

Contributions may include:

  • Webinars, workshops and panel discussions.
  • New safer gambling initiatives launched during the week.
  • Staff or customer training sessions.
  • Research, surveys and data relating to player protection.
  • Partnerships promoting national support services.
  • Participation in the campaign’s social media activity.

Organisations are not required to hold an event. They can also support the campaign by sharing EGBA’s locally translated safer gambling materials through their websites and social media channels.

Activities must be registered by 19 October

Organisations planning an event or activity must register it by Monday, 19 October, to be included in the official programme.

EGBA is encouraging participants to submit their plans as early as possible, allowing organisers to develop the programme and reduce scheduling conflicts.

Campaign logos and social media graphics in local languages will be available upon request from 1 October. The materials will support a player-facing campaign delivering consistent safety messages across participating European markets.

European Safer Gambling Week is organised annually by EGBA as part of its broader consumer protection work. The association represents licensed online gambling operators active across Europe and works with regulators and other stakeholders to support regulated markets and sustainable play.
