The project will add Canopy Bar, new landscaping and entertainment space as part of a wider update across the Perth casino resort
The investment is intended to strengthen Crown Perth’s appeal as a wider hospitality and entertainment destination, with new dining, retail and public spaces complementing its casino operation.
Crown Perth will redevelop the 12-storey glass atrium within the Crown Metropol lobby. The redesigned entrance will feature indoor landscaping, natural materials and a central venue offering food, drinks and live entertainment.
Construction is due to begin this month and continue into 2027. Crown estimates that more than nine million people visit the resort each year.
Canopy Bar to occupy 1,200 square metres
Canopy Bar at Crown will provide 1,200 square metres of dining, lounge and bar space within the atrium.
The venue is being designed to operate throughout the day, serving breakfast, coffee and afternoon tea before moving into evening dining, cocktails and entertainment.
Mature trees and other indoor greenery will be combined with natural stone and warm timber finishes. The design aims to retain the atrium’s natural light while giving the lobby a more contemporary appearance.
Brian Pereira, CEO of Crown Perth
“The iconic glass atrium at the heart of Crown Perth is recognisable to anyone who has visited our property in the 40 years it has been welcoming visitors, diners, theatregoers and tourists.
“There is tremendous momentum across our resort right now, with internationally celebrated chefs opening major new restaurants here next year and a significant upgrade and transformation underway that will make Crown Perth an even more exciting place to visit, stay and celebrate in the future.
“This work is creating local jobs and strengthening our place as a leading entertainment and tourism destination.”
Rockpool and Linney’s form part of wider update
Rockpool Bar & Grill will receive a redesigned bar, changes to its main dining room and three private dining areas.
The revised floor plan will increase the restaurant’s total capacity from 238 to 261 guests. Rockpool is scheduled to close temporarily on 5 October and reopen on 28 October.
Western Australian jeweller Linney’s will move to a new location within Crown Towers. The family-owned pearl and diamond business has operated at Crown Perth for more than 20 years and is expected to reopen in November.
The work follows the opening of Gladstones wine bar and the Urban Food District. Crown has also announced restaurants from Björn Frantzén and Pichaya “Chef Pam” Soontornyanakij.
Local contractor appointed for atrium project
Western Australian construction company CDI Group has been selected to deliver the atrium redevelopment.
Crown expects the project to involve up to 100 workers during construction. The company has not disclosed the total investment or a precise completion date within 2027.
Restaurants and facilities surrounding the atrium are expected to remain accessible while the main development is carried out, although visitors may encounter temporary changes within the lobby.
