Cesar Augusto Valencia Galiano takes over from Juan Pérez Hidalgo

The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, issued Decree 1485 appointing Cesar Augusto Valencia Galiano, to the position of president of Coljuegos, the government agency under the name, Empresa Industrial y Comercial del Estado, administrator of casinos, slots operations and gambling in Colombia.
Valencia Galiano replaces Juan Pérez Hidalgo, who resigned from the Coljuegos role last week following a six-year tenure that saw the successful launch of regulated igaming in the country.
The appointment comes after Coljuegos earlier this month revealed that the country’s government collected over US$776.2m in gambling taxes since 2015, a compounded increase of 76% from gambling tax collected in 2015.
The incoming Coljuegos president graduated as Business Administrator at local Universidad del Norte, and holds a Master’s Degree in Management from Drexel University in Pennsylvania, USA.
Valencia Galiano developed a successful career at Smurfit Kappa Cartón of Colombia, a world leader in the production of corrugated cardboard packaging and paper, where for more than 40 years he played different roles that led him to achieve in 2016 the position of Vice President of the Central America and Caribbean Region, a role he played before arriving in Coljuegos.
