Coljuegos expands regional training to combat illegal gambling

Six territorial sessions and a national meeting are helping Colombian authorities understand gaming rules, inspections and enforcement procedures

Closer coordination with local authorities can improve the identification of unauthorised gambling and protect the public revenue generated by licensed operators.

Coljuegos has delivered six working sessions under its 2026 Institutional Presence Plan. The regulator has held meetings with authorities and industry participants in Chocó, Nariño, Risaralda, Huila and Meta, alongside a separate national event.

Training covers regulation and enforcement

The Territorial Training Sessions bring Coljuegos’ regulatory and institutional services directly to Colombia’s regions.

Participants receive information about the current legal framework and the administrative procedures used for inspection, monitoring and control. The programme also covers institutional and criminal enforcement measures intended to prevent and reduce illegal gambling.

The meetings allow regional authorities and other local stakeholders to discuss the practical application of these procedures and improve their coordination with the national regulator.

Regional presence supports licensed businesses

Illegal gambling competes with authorised operators without meeting the same licensing, reporting and financial obligations.

Coljuegos said the training programme is intended to promote compliance, strengthen regional monitoring and give local organisations practical tools for responding to unauthorised activity.

Improved enforcement can also support fairer conditions for licensed businesses and protect the revenue collected from regulated games of chance.

Permanent engagement with the regions

The six sessions held during 2026 cover five departments, indicating that more than one meeting has taken place in at least one participating territory. Coljuegos has not published an individual schedule for all six sessions in its announcement.

The regulator plans to maintain its presence across the country and continue working with local authorities and sector participants.

Through the initiative, Coljuegos aims to support a transparent and regulated gambling industry while protecting revenue linked to regional and national economic development.
