Brazil advances on sport betting at OGS 2018
Full debates at industry even after legalization fuels expectations

The House of Representatives and the Senate approved the legalization of sports betting in the country with Provisional Measure 846/18, which has been sent to the presidential sanction. In this context, the Online Gaming Summit Brazil – OGS event in São Paulo will evaluate the impacts and business opportunities of the sector in the country. “The main suppliers of the sector will be present,” highlights the general director of Clarion Events Brasil, Sergio Jardim.
Regulating Brazil’s gaming industry is decidedly back on the agenda, and to discuss online games and sports betting issues in Brazil, the OGS Brazil will take place between December 3-4. The event, organized by Clarion Events Brasil, will be held at the Pacaembu Stadium in São Paulo and will bring together operators, suppliers of products and services, regulators and authorities.
The Bill by Senator Flexa Ribeiro (PSDB-PA) creates a new fixed odds lottery, designed as the framework of the sports betting sector via internet. The Provisional Measure introduces new rules for the distribution of money collected from lotteries and provides that all bets must allocate 2.5% of revenue to the National Public Security Fund (FNSP) for land-based operations and 1% for online.
“Latin America is one of the fastest-growing markets in the industry and estimates suggest that it has moved US$ 4.9 billion in 2017. The idea of this event is to discuss the regulation of online gaming and specifically sports betting, bringing participants to the possibility of attending and contributing to the discussions. The main suppliers of the sector will be present at OGS,” explains Jardim.

For two days, the event will have a wide content programming, with the realization of ten panels. Among the topics to be addressed are tax and financial challenges to encourage the regulated market, the possibilities of the sports betting market, developments of pro-gambling political forces after the elections, among others. Speakers include government representatives, CEOs, teachers, business owners, consultants, experts and lawyers.
