Awager launches live-streamed physical slots with BetMGM in New Jersey

BetMGM and Borgata Online players can remotely access 50 physical slot cabinets featuring more than 30 games through live 4K video

The launch gives BetMGM a product that sits between conventional online slots and land-based casino play. Instead of using a digital version of a cabinet game, players connect remotely to physical slot machines operating inside regulated studio environments.

Awager, an Aristocrat company, has made its remote live slots platform available to BetMGM and Borgata Online customers in New Jersey.

The initial deployment includes 50 physical cabinets and more than 30 individual game titles. Available games include Aristocrat Gaming’s Buffalo Ascension and Lightning Link.

Awager streams the machines to players using live 4K video, the original cabinet audio and low-latency controls. Each spin reflects gameplay taking place on the physical slot machine, while the player accesses and controls the experience through an online device.

The technology gives online operators another way to offer established land-based content without converting the original games into conventional digital slots. It also allows suppliers and operators to retain the appearance, sound and mathematical operation of the physical cabinet.

Superna Kalle, Chief Strategy Officer at Aristocrat

“Bringing land-based play online is at the heart of our mission to deliver a truly authentic casino experience straight to players’ devices.

“We’re incredibly proud to partner with BetMGM on this launch and continue expanding access to real slot machine play. Together, we’re creating new ways for players to enjoy the games they love while preserving the authenticity and trust that make the land-based casino experience so compelling.”

The agreement combines Awager’s remote gaming hardware, software and streaming technology with BetMGM’s online casino platform.

Awager creates dedicated broadcast studios containing physical gaming machines. Its system captures video and sound from each cabinet and provides an interface through which online customers can place wagers and control gameplay remotely.

Rob Passerino, Director of Gaming at BetMGM

“At BetMGM, we’re committed to bringing new and innovative gaming experiences to our players. The addition of Awager’s live slots offering creates an exciting new way for our players to engage with slot machines digitally.

“This is just the beginning of our partnership, and we look forward to continuing to work together to explore new opportunities that further enhance the BetMGM online casino experience.”

Awager’s platform has been developed over more than a decade and supports different cabinets and gaming environments. The company currently operates studios in North America and Europe.

The supplier said it works only in regulated jurisdictions and applies requirements covering compliance, responsible gaming, operational integrity and player protection.

The New Jersey launch gives Awager access to BetMGM’s established online casino audience while adding a new content format to the operator’s portfolio. It also provides a route for physical casino games to reach online players without removing the original cabinet from the underlying gameplay.
